About us
Variétés Gallery was established as a protest against flattening of pop culture. In our opinion mass-media often only scratch the surface of high culture by promoting the works without meaning, form and content – works for which the only reason of existence is to be caricature or to make a scandal.
By exhibiting Polish art, we would like to show that ART it’s not a sophisticated decoration for upper classes, but it could be an interesting alternative in financial investments, an element of everyman’s life and a great journey.
With sharing our experience in the art market and knowledge of Polish art, we would like to make ART more popular and exciting for everyone.

Piotr Stachiewicz (1858 Nowosiółki Gościnne – 1938 Kraków). Malarz i ilustrator.
Początkowo studiował w krakowskiej Szkole Sztuk Pięknych (1877-1883) u Władysława Łuszczkiewicza i Floriana Cynka. Naukę kontynuował w Monachium (1883-1885). Po studiach powrócił do Krakowa. Malował liczne portrety – szeroko znane są jego wizerunki idealizowanych dziewcząt w strojach krakowskich, do których często pozowała „Piękna Zośka” (Zofia Paluchowa), obrazy o tematyce religijnej (wizerunki Matki Boskiej) oraz sceny rodzajowe i pejzaże (m.in. namalował cykl obrazów przedstawiających pracę w kopalni). Tworzył również ilustracje, m.in. do powieści „Quo vadis” Henryka Sienkiewicza, poezji Adama Mickiewicza oraz Marii Konopnickiej. Według jego projektów tworzono plakaty reklamowe (np. dla okocimskich browarów), jego prace bywały reprodukowane na pocztówkach. Od 1889 był członkiem Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Sztuk Pięknych.
